In what could only be described as awful condition, Worksop 1’s faced Newark 1’s in their last home game of the year. With Worksop second in the league and Newark third, there was never going to be much between the two teams, and so it proved. The best chance of the first half fell to Lisa Sankey, who saw her goal bound effort dramatically cleared off the line by Newark’s keeper.
The second half continued in the same vein , with both teams pushing hard for the win. With ten minutes remaining, Worksop produced some slick play down the right, leading to a well-timed cross beautifully despatched by top scorer Chloe Gilpin. With a one nil lead and time nearly up, Worksop found themselves victims of a dubious penalty corner decision , and despite their best efforts, Newark had their equaliser . The player of the match went to Rebecca Steeple.
