Worksop 1’s hit the road again this week with a lunchtime pushback against Newark 2’s . On paper, this appeared a straightforward fixture for Worksop, with Newark in the lower half of the table. It didn’t take long for Worksop to realised this wouldn’t be the case, with lots of niggling fouls conceded but Newark, and some questionable umpiring decisions, Worksop found it hard to find any rhythm. With a scrappy first half nearly finished, Worksop were awarded a penalty corner, which was cleanly dispatched by Gemma Matthews into the bottom corner.
The second half carried on in the same pattern as the first. Worksop tried not to become frustrated, but it clear that this was a game they would have to dig deep and grind out for the win. When the final whistle went, there was a sense of relief for Worksop, not a prettiest win but three valuable points. The player of the match went to Andrea Finn
